A Message from the Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee of Williams Lake and District Credit Union is pleased to advise that an election of directors will take place to fill four (4) positions on the Board: three (3) in the Williams Lake region, and one (1) in the Bella Coola Valley region. Commencing January 4, 2021, nomination forms will be available at Williams Lake and District Credit Union branches. Members in good standing are invited to forward names of proposed candidates prior to noon on February 9, 2021, which is the date and time that nominations shall close.

The election of directors shall be conducted by mail ballot. Members residing within a region where an election becomes necessary will receive a ballot package and instructions by mail. To be eligible to vote in this election, a person must be a member, other than a junior member, in good standing on December 31, 2020. Voting ends on April 23, 2021. Results of this election will be announced at the Annual General Meeting to be held on May 5, 2021.

Newly elected directors will commence duties immediately following the Annual General Meeting and will continue for a period of three years, with the exception of one position in the Williams Lake region which will continue for a period of one year. It is important to note that directors are required to prepare for and attend monthly Board and Committee meetings. In addition, all new directors must complete a computer-based director development program and attend one (1) out-of-town or online workshop during the first year of their tenure.

The Nomination Package contains information for your consideration as well as all the forms which need to be filled out and returned to our head office as follows:

Completed nomination papers must be received in our Administration Branch no later than 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

Please Note:

  • Only original forms with original signatures will be accepted.
  • Faxed and emailed copies will not be accepted.
  • Completed forms must be delivered to our Administration Branch as noted above.
  • Nominations mailed or delivered to a branch office will be deemed to have not been received.

2021 Election of Directors

If the number of qualified nominees is less than or equal to the number of positions to be filled, the nominees shall be declared elected by acclamation.

If the number of qualified nominees exceeds the number of positions to be filled, an election will be held. To be eligible to vote in this election a person must be a member in good standing as at December 31, 2020. Good standing requires that a member hold a specified number of membership shares and not be more than 90 days delinquent on any obligation to the Credit Union. Junior members (those born after 2001) are not eligible to vote.

Should an election be required, voting will be by mail ballot only. Ballots will be mailed to members on or before March 15, 2021, and ballots must be received by the Returning Officer by April 23, 2021.
