Using Your Debit Card?
Protect Your PIN, Protect Your Money
Use your hand or body to shield your PIN when you are using an ATM or a point-of-sale terminal at a store.
- Never let your banking card out of your sight when using it to purchase something.
- Always remember to take your banking card and transaction record with you once you are finished.
- Always check your statements and balances to be sure all transactions have been properly documented. If something doesn’t seem right, contact your Credit Union immediately.
- If your banking card is lost, stolen, or retained by an ATM, let your Credit Union branch know right away.
- Your banking card and PIN are the keys to your account(s). Never disclose your PIN to anyone. You are the only person who should know it.
- Memorize your PIN - it's your electronic signature. If you suspect that someone knows your PIN, change it immediately or contact your Credit Union to cancel the card.
- When selecting your PIN, never use obvious information like your telephone number, birthday, dog’s name, address or social insurance number.
- Only use your card when and where you feel safe. If anyone tries to distract you, complete what you are doing and retrieve your card before doing anything else. If you cannot retrieve your card, call your Credit Union immediately.
Be aware - Do not be a victim
